On behalf of the Greater Wichita Area Sports Commission, our staff and board of directors, we would like to personally thank you for your hard work and dedication to help make the 2017 Prairie Fire Marathon a success. On a day where the temperature outside epitomized the name of the race, the volunteers remained strong. Thanks in part to your gracious efforts, we were able to host a high-quality community event in Wichita once again.

Overall, there were a total of 3,807+ runners that registered to run in the races representing

7 foreign countries, 39 states and 507 different communities. Additionally, there were another 1,167 individuals that volunteered their time over the course of the weekend.

The atmosphere throughout the weekend was optimistic and upbeat as there were runners of many different age groups and experience levels. Numerous runners and spectators were kind in their comments crediting the work of our volunteers for such a great event. We could not have done it without you!

The Greater Wichita Area Sports Commission is excited about growing this event and informing runners nationwide that Wichita is home to an elite running event. We hope that you will join us again on May 7, 2017 for the Prairie Fire Spring Half Marathon and October 8, 2017 for the Prairie Fire Fall Marathon.

Thank you again for your support.

Sincerely,

Robert E. Hanson        Carson McAfee
