The Prairie Fire Race Series has formally been awarded the 2017 Road Runners Club of America Kansas State Championships. This distinguished designation is only awarded to races who meet a very specific set of criteria. For more information on this designation, click HERE.

As you enter into the New Year wanting to achieve that goal you set for running and getting in great shape, look no further than
the Local Joes. Whether you are a novice or experienced runner, the Prairie Fire Local Joes program might just be the key to help
you attain that goal! Please review the amenities and requirements for participating as a Local Joe.

Rewards For Being A Local Joe

If selected to be a Local Joe, you will receive:

  • Free "Start2Finish Training" provided by Fleet Feet Sports
  • A complimentary Prairie Fire Race Series entry for 2017
  • A free pair of running shoes provided by Fleet Feet Sports
  • Two Local Joes participant shirts
  • Opportunity for great bonding and support with fellow Local Joes

Requirements to be Accepted

What we need from our Local Joes:

  • Agree to volunteer at the Spring Prairie Fire Expo on Saturday, May 6th
  • Agree to volunteer or run/walk the 5K at the Prairie Fire Spring race on Sunday, May 7th
  • Attend 75% of all scheduled Start2Finish Training Sessions
  • Share your experience on social media. We will even help you get set up and show you how to share your thoughts!
  • Volunteer at the Fit for Life Expo on Saturday, October 7th
  • Run one of the Fall Prairie Fire Races on Sunday, October 8th

This year's Prairie Fire Spring Half Marathon will take place on Sunday, May 7, 2017. May 7 also happens
to be 
National Tourism Day. To commemorate Wichita as the "Air Capital of the World," we have selected
an aircraft theme for this year's half marathon. We hope you enjoy "Pilot Sparky" this Spring!
